Two candidates including a former Minister were arrested by the Police during the past few days for violating election laws. 

Among them were Irrigation (non-cabinet) minister Jayatissa Ranweera and former MP UNP candidate Dinesh Gankanda.

So far thirty five persons have been arrested for violating election laws.
